Victor L. Hymes

Mr. Hymes is CEO and Chief Investment Officer of Legato Capital Management, LLC, where he oversees the firm’s investment activities. Mr. Hymes founded Legato in 2004.
Prior to Legato’s inception, Mr. Hymes was Chief Operating Officer and CIO of Cazenave Partners, LLC, a firm specializing in the construction and management of multi-manager portfolios for institutional clients. In 1992, he joined the firm of Scudder, Stevens & Clark, Inc., as a Vice President and portfolio manager. Prior to leaving the firm in 2002, Mr. Hymes led Scudder’s $80 billion North American institutional business as Managing Director, overseeing two mergers culminating in the firm’s complete sale to Deutsche Asset Management. For the nine years prior to joining Scudder, he held the position of Vice President at both Goldman, Sachs & Co. and Kidder Peabody & Co.
Mr. Hymes is a graduate of Oberlin College, where he studied music and mathematics. He received an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business in 1983.

Adam S. Lawlor, CFA

Mr. Lawlor, a Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager, joined Legato in 2004.
Prior to joining Legato, Mr. Lawlor served as Director of Manager Research at Cazenave Partners, LLC, a firm specializing in the construction and management of multi-manager portfolios for institutional clients. Before joining Cazenave in 2003, he directed the Investment Consulting Group at Robertson Stephens. From 1995 to 2000, Mr. Lawlor was a member of the Global Manager Research Group at Callan Associates, Inc.
Mr. Lawlor attended the University of Connecticut, Storrs, where he received a B.S. in Business Administration. He is also a member of both the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of San Francisco.

Lieve Mertens, CFA

Ms. Mertens, a Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager, joined Legato in 2007. Ms. Mertens also serves as the Director of Operations and is the firm’s Chief Compliance Officer.
Prior to joining Legato, Ms. Mertens was a Senior Investment Consultant at Alan D. Biller & Associates, Inc., where she was a key member of the team providing consulting services to the firm’s largest client, with assets in excess of $28 billion. Before joining Alan D. Biller, she led the Flanders Foreign Investment Office, the economic development agency for the northern region of Belgium. For the 10 years prior to joining the Flanders Foreign Investment Office, Ms. Mertens was an analyst at both Pillar Point Capital Management and AXA Rosenberg Investment Management.
Ms. Mertens attended K.U. Leuven, Belgium, where she received an M.S. in Electrical Engineering. She later received an M.B.A. degree with honors from the University of Chicago. She is also a member of both the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of San Francisco.

Fawad A. Razzaque, CFA

Mr. Razzaque, a Vice President and Portfolio Manager, joined Legato in 2009.
Prior to joining Legato, Mr. Razzaque was a member of Russell Investment’s U.S. Equity Research team, where he focused on small cap managers as a Research Analyst. His research supported Russell’s consulting clients both directly and through the firm’s multi manager funds. Before joining Russell, Mr. Razzaque worked for A. G. Edwards & Sons, Inc. as an Associate Investment Advisor Analyst and was responsible for manager research for the firm’s separately managed accounts program. During the prior four years, Mr. Razzaque served A. G. Edwards as a Financial Consultant.
Mr. Razzaque received his B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore, Pakistan; and an MBA from Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), Pakistan. He is also a member of the CFA Institute.

Douglas W. Porter, CFA, FRM, CAIA

Mr. Porter, an Assistant Vice President and Portfolio Manager, joined Legato in 2010.
Most recently, Mr. Porter worked at Russell Investments as a Research Analyst on the U.S. Equity Research team, where he focused on evaluating and ranking US SMID, Small and Micro Cap managers. In addition, Mr. Porter built several analytical tools to support manager evaluation and multi-manager fund construction. Prior to 2006, Mr. Porter was a Portfolio Analyst at Russell where he worked with internal multi-manager portfolio managers to analyze risk-return relative to multi-asset class diversification and portfolio construction. During the prior three years at Russell, he conducted analysis in support of Russell’s Institutional Consulting and Client Service teams. Mr. Porter started his career working for Russell Mellon Analytical Services as an Index Analyst.
Mr. Porter received his B.S. in Business Leadership from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington. He is also a member of the CFA Institute, the CAIA Association, Market Technicians Association, and Global Association of Risk Professionals where he received certification as a Financial Risk Manager.
