Mr. Hymes is CEO and Chief Investment Officer of Legato Capital Management, LLC, and oversees the firm’s investment activities. Mr. Hymes founded Legato in 2004.

Prior to Legato’s inception, Mr. Hymes was Chief Operating Officer and CIO of Cazenave Partners, LLC, a firm specializing in the construction and management of multi-manager portfolios for institutional clients. In 1992, he joined the firm of Scudder, Stevens & Clark, Inc., as a Vice President and portfolio manager. Prior to leaving the firm in 2002, Mr. Hymes led Scudder’s $80 billion North American institutional business as Managing Director, overseeing two mergers culminating in the firm’s complete sale to Deutsche Asset Management. For the nine years prior to joining Scudder, he held the position of Vice President at both Goldman, Sachs & Co. and Kidder Peabody & Co.

Mr. Hymes is a graduate of Oberlin College, where he studied music and mathematics. He received an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business in 1983.

 
   
   
  Adam S. Lawlor, CFA

Mr. Lawlor, a Senior Vice President and Director of Research, joined Legato in 2004.

Prior to joining Legato, Mr. Lawlor served as Director of Manager Research at Cazenave Partners, LLC, a firm specializing in the construction and management of multi-manager portfolios for institutional clients. Before joining Cazenave in 2003, he directed the Investment Consulting Group at Robertson Stephens. From 1995 to 2000, Mr. Lawlor was a member of the Global Manager Research Group at Callan Associates, Inc.

Mr. Lawlor attended the University of Connecticut, Storrs, where he received a B.S. in Business Administration. He is also a member of both the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of San Francisco.

 
   
   
  Lieve Mertens, CFA
Director of Strategic Research
 
     
 

Ms. Mertens, a Senior Vice President and Director of Strategic Research, joined Legato in 2007.

Prior to joining Legato, Ms. Mertens was a Senior Investment Consultant at Alan D. Biller & Associates, Inc., where she was a key member of the team providing consulting services to the firm’s largest client, with assets in excess of $28 billion. Before joining Alan D. Biller, she led the Flanders Foreign Investment Office, the economic development agency for the northern region of Belgium. For the 10 years prior to joining the Flanders Foreign Investment Office, Ms. Mertens was an analyst at both Pillar Point Capital Management and AXA Rosenberg Investment Management.

Ms. Mertens attended K.U. Leuven, Belgium, where she received an M.S. in Electrical Engineering. She later received an M.B.A. degree with honors from the University of Chicago. She is also a member of both the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of San Francisco.

 
   
   
  Soumya Iyer

Ms. Iyer, an Assistant Vice President and Research Analyst, joined Legato in 2007.

Prior to joining Legato, Ms. Iyer served as a research analyst focusing on institutional clients at Alan D. Biller & Associates, Inc. Before joining Alan D. Biller, she held positions at Charles Schwab & Co., and JP Morgan Chase Bank in India and Australia, where she steered the migration of Asia Pacific operations from Sydney to Mumbai.

Ms. Iyer attended the Birla Institute of Technology and Science in India, and received a Master of Management Studies (M.M.S.) and M.Sc. (Hons.) in Economics. She currently is a Level III CFA candidate.

 
   
     
   
  Amy C. Gee, C.P.A.
Controller
 
     
 

Ms. Gee, a Vice President and Controller, joined Legato in 2007.

Ms. Gee’s experience spans more than fifteen years in accounting, finance, and human resources and benefits management. She has been affiliated with a number of leading institutions including Vallejo Investments, Inc., Ceridian Corporation, Bank of America, and Deloitte & Touche, where she served as a Senior Auditor and Senior Tax Accountant.

Ms. Gee received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Berkeley, where she graduated with honors in accounting.
